While Edwards himself may have known little about the sport when he started, he has immersed himself in the game. He spends hours studying pedigrees and is no longer lost when Ryan goes over a catalogue page with him. He's also using his horse knowledge to help his pharma- ceutical company, which has developed several equine prod- ucts. "Bob has more energy than anyone I have ever met in my life," Kris Edwards said. "When he has an idea in his head he just goes for it. He takes the risks. He jumps right in and he never looks back." While Bob may be the face of e Five racing, it is fam- ily business. Cassidy is heavily in- volved and hopes to one day graduate to a full-time position with the stable. "I always wanted just one horses and now I have 70 plus, so, yes, I'm ex- tremely happy with everything that has happened," she said. Delaney is enrolled at the University of Arizona's Racetrack Industry Pro- gram. Riley is an aspiring comic and screenwriter, but he, too, is usually at the races when e Five has an important horse in. Their attention now is focused on Good Magic and the Kentucky Derby. The colt has the talent, the pedigree, the trainer and the jockey (Jose Ortiz). A lot can go wrong between now and the Kentucky Derby, but before any of the major preps have been run he looks the equal of any 3-year-old in the country. Then there's the intangible, the magic. Not good magic, necessar- ily. Call it e Five magic.
