Zhang Ruirui, China's only competing
female jockey, rode Seymour (NZ) (Fast
'N' Furious {Aus}) to victory in the Champi-
ons Cup. In doing so, she became the first
woman to win a race at a CECF and is also
believed to be the first female to have won
a Thoroughbred race in mainland China.
Her win, which went down as an import-
ant historical footnote, proved incredibly
popular with the cheering crowd.
