Montebello Islands Marine Park Lying 130 kilometres west of Dampier is the Montebello Islands Marine Park. The reserve is a group of more than 250 low-lying limestone islands and islets. The islands gained notoriety in the 1950s when Britain tested three atomic weapons there. • Fish the fertile waters in recreational and general use zones. • Camp (except during turtle nesting season from October-April) on the remote Northwest, Primrose, Bluebell, Crocus, Hermite and Renewal islands.
