Getting Here BY AIR Flights from Perth The North West is well serviced, with Paraburdoo, Newman, Karratha, Port Hedland, Broome, and Kununurra all receiving jet flights from Perth – including Qantas, Virgin and Airnorth. Full flight schedules, and the destinations to which they fly, can be found on the websites of each of the individual carriers: www.qantas.com.au www.airnorth.com.au www.virginaustralia.com.au Interstate Flights Both Virgin and Qantas have daily connections from the Eastern States via Perth to all towns mentioned above. In addition Qantas has seasonal direct flights to Broome from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Airnorth provides connections from Darwin to Kununurra and Broome. Flights from Overseas There are daily flights to Perth Airport from major international hubs. These flights connect with all intrastate flights to major towns within Australia's North West. Virgin Australia flies to Denpasar, Bali from Port Hedland once a week. BY Road From Perth If you're visiting the Pilbara, access from Perth is via two major sealed road arteries - the North West Coastal Highway and the inland Great Northern Highway. Travel further north along the Great Northern Highway to Broome, the southern gateway of the Kimberley. From Broome you can take the Great Northern Highway or the unsealed Gibb River Road to head east to Kununurra. From the East Coast Kununurra is the major eastern gateway to the North West, accessed via the Victoria Highway which links with the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. The unsealed Tanami Road links Alice Springs in Central Australia with Halls Creek in the Kimberley. Vehicle Hire Why not hire a vehicle and embark on a driving holiday of your own? You will find a variety of rental vehicles ranging from motor homes to four-wheel drives available at most major centres. By Coach Integrity Coachlines operates coach services that connect most major towns in the Pilbara through to Broome. A hop-on hop-off ticket is now available. Greyhound Australia connects major towns in the Kimberley through to Broome. Guided Tours There is a large range of friendly, professional tour operators that travel within the region. Whether you are travelling by land, air or sea, guided tours are one of the easiest and safest ways to travel. You can meet other like-minded visitors and explore sights you may not be able to access, or potentially miss altogether if 'doing your own thing'. So, kick back and let the locals show you the sights! ACCREDITED VISITOR CENTRES To get the most out of your holiday in the North West, speak to the experts at a local Visitor Centre. Visitor Centres offer advice on the best things to see and do. They can help with maps, accommodation and tour bookings, or provide local knowledge on an area's hidden gems. Look for the blue and yellow italic 'i' sign to find an accredited Visitor Centre on your holiday route. Contact details of Visitor Centres in the Kimberley and Pilbara can be found throughout this publication.
