Gibb River Road Self Drive Road Trip The Gibb River Road is one of Australia's classic outback drives – a 660 kilometre track accessible between May to October, weather dependent. Call into the Derby or Kununurra Visitor Centre before beginning your journey for up-to-date details of road conditions. Windjana Gorge National Park – Mount Hart Homestead Head to the King Leopold Ranges, stop at Inglis Gap and take in the view from the lookout on your way to Mt Hart Homestead. The homestead is a good base to explore nearby Matthew Gorge and the pockets of rainforest below Mt Matthew is a great spot for birdwatching. Enjoy accommodation at the homestead, in safari tents or at the campground on the river's edge. Derby – Windjana National Park Depart Derby, spend the night at the Windjana Gorge National Park camp site. Follow the Gorge Walk trail which begins at the camping area and winds through the gorge for 3.5km each way. Marvel at the freshwater crocodiles basking in the area. Take the 37km trip out to Western Australia's oldest cave system Tunnel Creek, famous as a hideout last century by Aboriginal warrior Jandamarra. Mount Hart Homestead – Bell Gorge – Silent Grove Spend a night camping at Silent Grove campsite managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions or stay at Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge. Another alternative is to camp at Imintji Campground which has wonderful views of the escarpment. Explore and swim at the waterfalls including spectacular Bells Gorge. Silent Grove – Manning Gorge Take a refreshing dip in the tranquil swimming hole located near the campground. Once across the creek hike the hour or so to Manning Gorge, and be rewarded with the sight of cascading waterfalls. Manning Gorge – Mount Elizabeth Station Enjoy the hospitality of a pioneering cattle station and explore the magnificent waterholes on the property. Look out for incredible Aboriginal art on the rock walls surrounding the waterholes. 4&5 6 4WD 1 2 3 5 4 8 9 10 6&7 Four Wheel Drive (high clearance) vehicles are recommended for the GIBB RIVER and KALUMBURU ROADS.
