At both the state and local levels, the government is working to ensure that our soaring population continues to strengthen our state without slowing our economic progress. Through the Moving Arizona Forward program, the state has integrated all the various parts of economic, community and workforce development into a single, coordinated approach. The result is a common vision of an innovative, sustainable and globally competitive economy that provides higher incomes and exceptional quality of life for Arizonans. Variety of Skilled Workers in the Quad-Cities The Quad-Cities have a wide variety of skilled workers and the largest single economic force within Yavapai County. Growth indicators for the Quad-Cities include annual increases in taxable sales dollars, postal receipts, new building permits, bank deposits, and net assessed valuation. The availability of the Quad-Cities' workforce will come from each of the communities and their outlying areas. With the close proximity of each community, it is an easy commuting distance. Along with a growing population of highly motivated and educated work force, the construction and real estate industries are major contributors to employment in the region. For current and up-to-date information, contact the economic development department for each of the cities and townships listed in this section. Workforce Development The Arizona Commerce Authority is an excellent place to start for workforce development. They offer multiple opportunities that help companies link employee development directly to individual business needs. A new company or existing company may find help through programs from the state level follows: Arizona Job Training Program, Apprenticeships, Arizona Workforce Connection, and Tax Credits for Job Training and Hiring. In addition, Small Business Services (SBS) offers several key functions including what a business will need to know to start, expand or relocate a business in Arizona including licensing information and statewide resources; state agencies and numerous business organizations to promote entrepreneurship among minority and woman-owned, small and disadvantaged business enterprises, and will also advocate on small business issues that are important throughout Arizona. For more information contact 602-771-1219 or visit Arizona Commerce Authority website at www.azcommerce.com/services/skilled-workforce/ Employment and Job Opportunities Moving into a new community is always stressful and finding a new job or career position adds to that stress. In a small rural community finding that perfect job can sometimes be a bit more challenging with fewer opportunities available. It is extremely important that you make sure your resume is up to date and that you personalize your job experience with each position. A good place to start are the human resource departments. Many have websites that you can quickly learn what type of positions are available.
