We hope that you had a fantastic summer and could take advantage of the many programs and activities we had to offer here at the Morton Grove Park District. Some exciting news, Pioneer Park recently received a full-face lift! As part of a comprehensive replacement plan that replaces a playground each year, Pioneer playground was replaced with input from the community. Last Fall the park district invited the community to provide their thoughts and opinions on concepts for the park. We were able to incorporate many of those thoughts into the fi nal design, including installing toddler swings. What about the purple dinosaur? Don't worry, it will still be standing guard in this kid-friendly park! The Recreation Staff has been busy creating new programs and events for the fall. There are several within each program area. Look for the "NEW" marker that identifi es those programs and events. We also have some exciting new plans for Holly Days Festival! If you haven't been, this is a fantastic event involving several community partners which include Morton Grove Park District, Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce, Morton Grove Days Commission, Morton Grove Library, Village of Morton Grove, and area school districts. We invite you and your family to come out to 3rd Annual Holly Days Festival and celebrate the holiday season. Please visit page 2 for a listing of activities. This year we have changed the time of the event to 3:00 to 6:30 PM on December 1st. Additionally, we have moved the tree lighting ceremony from Friday night to Saturday night at 6 pm at the Harrer Park gazebo. We hope to see you there. We have also recently revised our park board meetings calendar. Meetings will now be held only on the third Wednesday of the month. You can see the new calendar at, mortongroveparks.com. We were deeply saddened this spring with the passing of our Superintendent of Recreation, Joe Bruntmyer. After a year of a gallant fi ght with a serious illness, Joe passed away last March. Joe was an incredible professional who strived to provide quality opportunities to the residents he served. Joe's dedication and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Your feedback is important to us! Come to a meeting, send us an email to board@mgparks.com, or just walk up and say hello. We want to hear from you! We hope you have a safe and wonderful holiday season. Steven Schmidt, Park Board President
