The barbecue is great and the atmo-
sphere is exactly what you'd expect. The
pitmaster/owner is Nashville native Carey
Bringle and the name "peg leg" is not just
a gimmick. At age 17, he had to have his
right leg amputated due to an aggressive
form of bone cancer.
All the best Nashville barbecue plac-
es offer pretty much the same thing, the
good, juicy, tender meaty stuff, and Peg
Leg falls right into that category. Drown
the ribs in any one of a number of sauces
you can grab off a nearby counter.
Martin's churns out the product and the
brand is getting bigger all the time. Start-
ing off with just one Nashville spot in 2006,
the Martin's roster now includes two in
Nashville and four in other locations.
But Martin's wouldn't be expanding
if their restaurants weren't packed and
their restaurants wouldn't be packed if
the food wasn't delicious.
The ribs at Martin's are as good as any
you will find in Nashville, but they have a
more varied menu. If you want to go to a
Nashville barbecue place and your com-
panion is not into that type of food, try
Martin's.
