SHORTCUTS CARMEL CONFIDENTIAL Concours d'Elegance Poster Highlights Citroën A ctor, director and former Carmel Mayor Clint Eastwood is at work on a new movie called "The Mule," according to several media repor ts. The film tells the stor y of a down-on-his- luck hor ticulturist and Wor ld War II veteran who wor ks as a courier for a Mexican drug car tel. Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest, "Silver Linings Playbook" star Bradley Cooper, and Michael Peña, who won Screen Actors Guild recognition for his work in the 2013 drama "American Hustle," are also cast members. Eastwood directs and stars in the movie, which was was being filmed at press time. Clint Eastwood Directs and Stars in New Film A utomotive Fine Arts Society member Barry Rowe cele- brates his 20th anniversary as a Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance artist this August with the release of his 2018 Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance poster that celebrates Citroën. This is the first time the brand will be the featured marque at Pebble Beach. Rowe, recognized for his use of light and color, has cre- ated a poster featuring three vehi- cles set against a Bixby Bridge back- drop. In addition to working with the Pebble Beach Concours team, Rowe lists Aston Martin, Mercedes- Benz, Cunard, Royal Caribbean and Chopard among his clients. Carmel Honey Co. and its founder, Carmel High School stu- dent Jake Reisdorf, received Small Business of the Year honors at a California Small Business Day event in Sacramento this June. Assemblymember Mark Stone of California's 29th District selected Reisdorf for the award. California Small Business Day invites entre- preneurs, legislators and representatives from various state agencies to celebrate the contri- butions that small businesses make to commu- nities across the state. In addition to meeting Assemblymember Stone and other honorees, Reisdorf toured the capitol building and attended an awards luncheon. "It's a great honor to represent my district. I was super excited to learn that I'm the only beekeeper to receive this award and also the youngest person," said Reisdorf, who founded Carmel Honey Co. when he was 11 years old. The company opened a brick-and-mor- tar retail shop and educational cen- ter in Carmel Plaza last summer. Justin Rivard and Peter B's Brewpub won gold in the 2018 Los Angeles International Beer Com- petition, topping the American- Belgo-Style Ale category with the Great White Buffalo release. "I set out to brew a Belgian Pale because it's a challenging style that requires perfect balance, and the yeast and hops can easily be at odds.
