Commission meetings are held on the first Tuesday every other month at 5:30pm in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center. Inversin Gerald Massad Jeremy Hall JoAnne Michael I n the past two years, the team at Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space has made great strides to focus on community based programming, education, and events. anks to the tremendous efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, along with generous sponsorships from local businesses, there are now more affordable family-friendly opportunities available in Carson City. From nature hikes and skate competitions to movies at the park or pool, there is a lot going on in the capital city. Carson City is also committed to improving our park system and re-investing in aging infrastructure. We are excited to announce the construction of a new 3-acre park this fall located on the southeast side of town. is will be the first new park constructed in more than 12 years and it will have the city's first uni- versally accessible playground. Safety improvements and a new restroom at the Rifle and Pistol Range and enhancements at Sono- ma and Fuji Dog Parks were just completed. e city's first disc golf course is under construction and more than $1 million dollars will be invested at Mills Park this year at the Aquatic Facility and the Bob Boldrick eater. e playgrounds at Ross Gold and Centennial Parks will be upgraded and more than 200-acres of open space will be added to the city's inventory.
