SiG MT 16 URBAN AFFAIRS Working Life S MT Text by Holly Matkin • Photography by Really Montana Photography very once in a while, you find a place so simplistically quaint and endearing that you hope it never changes. Scarbro's Barber Shop on Central Avenue West in Great Falls is one of those places. The shop opened in its current location in 1962, and has passed through three generations of the Scarbro family since then. Now it's brothers Jeremy and Dave Scarbro's turn to spend their days doling out tidy haircuts and clean-cut shaves to their walk-in customers, just as their father and grandfather did years before. "The shop is like a museum," Jeremy says. "We still even have grandpa's original barber chairs." Old-Fashioned Perfection Vintage barber poles and a genuine jackelope add even more character to the space, and people are always adding pictures to the shop's collection. In true barbershop fashion, Jeremy also offers customers traditional straight-razor shaves – complete with a relaxing hot towel wrap. "We have taken care of multiple generations in some families," Dave says. "You get to know customers and their families, and really get a perspective on Great Falls itself and the surrounding areas and farms and ranches." "If you want to really know what's going on in a town, stop at the local barbershop," Dave says. "We hear about everything." Scarbro's Barber Shop is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 512 Cental Ave W, Great Falls, MT. E Brothers Jeremy and Dave carry on the Scarbro tradition of keeping their clients looking sharp - no appointment necessary! Jeremy and Dave Scarbro
