SiG MT 13 URBAN AFFAIRS Neighborhoods Collaboration is key to two nonprofit organizations' mission to bring even more life to Great Falls' bustling downtown scene. Nestled in a shared office on Central Avenue, Downtown Great Falls Association Director Kellie Pierce and Great Falls Business Improvement District Director Joan Redeen spend their days working on their common goal, all while catering to their respective members. Kellie devotes her time working directly with business owners and promoting all that the downtown area has to offer. The Downtown Association hosts a plethora of fun family events, including "Music on the Mo," ghost tours, and the Christmas Stroll, to name a few. Simultaneously, Joan works with property owners to beautify the historic area through countless community projects and eye- catching art displays. The Great Falls Businesses Improvement District spearheaded the sprawling 11,000 square foot mural at the First Avenue Underpass, and is the organization behind the festive banners, sound system, and flowers that beautify the downtown streets. "We want to make downtown a destination to shop, dine, stay and play," Kellie says. "Downtown is alive and well and stores are popping up everywhere." "What we do compliments one another," Joan adds. "We are two downtown nonprofits, working together to help continue the improvements to the downtown area."
