Page 15 CREDENTIALING q Members of the Registrations & Credentials Supervision Committee (RCSC), the volunteer leaders who manage BICSI's credentials, recently met at BICSI Headquarters, along with a select group of globally dynamic Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC) and Outside Plant (OSP) subject matter experts (SMEs). Their objective was to conduct a Scheme Alignment Study, a credentialing best practice activity, for the DCDC exam, and a standard- setting study for the OSP exam. A Scheme Alignment Study is conducted by professionals who hold the given credential and would like to provide industry expertise. The team was also joined by a third-party expert in certification, who offered expertise in facilitating this type of credential best practice activity and who guided the SMEs through the process. This diverse and committed group spent two days enhancing the DCDC exam program by determining the standard of conduct of a credential holder, as well as reviewing and making recommendations for the exam eligibility qualifications/prerequisites and recertification requirements. A Standard Setting Study is conducted by SME volunteers in the ICT industry who hold the given credential. They participate in the study and provide industry expertise on validating exam forms in partnership with third- party expert psychometrician professionals. From this, a passing score is established to determine earning the credential. Performing these studies on our credentialing programs ensures that BICSI stays at the forefront of our industry, and our members, credential holders and other ICT professionals remain relevant and at the top of their respective fields. q These are very important credentialing industry best practice activities that yield value to the certifications and to the individuals who earn them.
