F
ans of the art of casting will be delighted
to learn that Geoff Malloway has
reopened Central Coast Fly Fishing a few doors
down from his original location in mid-Carmel
Valley's Valley Hills Shopping Center.
"I just couldn't stay away from the business,"
the affable proprietor says.
The new location is much like the first:
stocked floor to ceiling with all the accou-
trements an avid fisherman (or woman) could
dream of.
Once again, Malloway is also leading guided
tours to the fly-fishing meccas of the world. "I'm
working up to doing around six trips per year,"
he says. He also acts as travel agent for those
wishing for solo adventures.
It's not just the fishing gear and good conver-
sation that entice people to visit Malloway and
his uber-mellow canine pal Daisy. He also runs a
side business, cooking up "The world's WORST
homemade English toffee," an instantly addictive
confection Malloway also jokingly calls "Carmel
Valley crack."
What started as a customer-appreciation gift
has turned into a nicely profitable enterprise.
The toffee can also be found in shops such as
Bruno's Market, Monte Vista Liquors, Boete
Winery tasting room and the Carmel Valley
Market.
