register at mortongroveparks.com | Winter Spring Activity Guide 33 YOUTH youth gymnastics|ages 18m-17 Gymnastics Descriptions EH Parent & Me Gymnastics In parent-tot classes, adult and child share a special time together while the child participates in tumbling, obstacle courses, balance beam, and bars. Music, ribbons, balls, and other fun equipment are used to make class an entertaining, developmental experience. Children are encouraged to explore abilities, use their imaginations, enhance listening capabilities, socialize in groups, and develop gross motor skills. Tumbling Tots Children are given the opportunity to succeed, use their imagination, enhance listening skills, develop self-esteem and build confi dence through tumbling, movement exploration, balancing and the development of gross motor skills. Obstacle courses, themed weeks, ribbons, balls, balance beam, bars and vaulting are part of this fun experience. Advanced Tumbling Tots Children develop gross motor skills through movement exploration, tumbling and balancing. Class is for participants who are not old enough to be in the recreation classes but have passed the tumble tot program. Classes are grouped by skill levels. Instructor permission is required. Girls Beginner Gymnastics The goal of this entry level program is to challenge gymnasts and allow them to achieve maximum success while developing skills, building strength and increasing fl exibility. The program follows developmental gymnastics progressions. Gymnasts are grouped by age categories. Girls Intermediate Gymnastics This program is designed to challenge and train gymnasts for participation in the gymnastics competitive system. The program is divided into progressive levels recommended by USA Gymnastics. Instructor approval required for Intermediate. Girls Advanced Gymnastics This program is for participants wanting to advance their skills through classes. Gymnasts are challenged by their individual skill level to improve their skill set. Instructor permission is required. Boys Beginner Gymnastics This entry level program challenges gymnasts by developing skills, building strength and increasing fl exibility. Boys artistic gymnastics is comprised of six Olympic events; vault, high bar, parallel bars, pommel horse, rings, and fl oor exercise. Boys Intermediate Gymnastics This program prepares athletes to compete at sanctioned USA Gymnastics competitions. Registered gymnasts learn required, competitive level routines and are expected to compete at least once. Gymnasts progress to Boys Team. Instructor permission is required. Tumble Class This co-ed program is designed for cheerleaders and gymnasts to achieve maximum success while developing tumbling skills which demonstrate speed and strength. Acrobatic maneuvers including somersaults, fl ips and twists will also be covered. This program is recommended for those who want to tumble (no gymnastics apparatus). Advanced Tumbling This co-ed program is designed for cheerleaders and gymnasts to achieve maximum success while developing tumbling skills. This program is recommended for advanced tumblers and team gymnasts. Gymnastics Open Gym Open gym is for participants currently enrolled in a beginner gymnastics class or higher. There are no make ups for this program. Competitive Gymnastics Competitive Gymnastics are teams for sanctioned USA Gymnastics competition. See page 34 for information. PLEASE TAKE NOTE Youth Gymnastics EH Resident registration for Gymnastics begins on Monday, December 3. District 219 qualify for resident rates, however registration must be done in person at the Prairie View Community Center. Non-resident registration begins December 10.
