Dennis Springer enters his eighth season
leading the receiving corps. Springer
mentored New Orleans Saints Austin
Carr from walk-on to 2016 Biletnikoff
Finalist and Richter-Howard Big Ten
Receiver of the Year. Following Carr's
departure Springer helped usher in a
new crop of receivers who fueled NU's
passing offense. in 2017, The Wildcats
were just one of 16 teams in the country
to have five-plus players register at least
25 receptions, just a year after setting a
program record with six 25-plus catch
receivers.

Tim McGarigle returned to his alma
mater on Jan. 9., 2018. McGarigle spent
the 2017 campaign as the defensive
quality control coach for the Green Bay
Packers. Prior to the NFL, he spent the
2016 season as the linebackers coach
at Illinois and four seasons (2012-15)
at Western Michigan in the same role.
During his college career, McGarigle
totaled a school and FBS-record 545
tackles, posting three-consecutive 140-
plus tackle seasons. He was drafted by
the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round
of the 2006 NFL Draft.
