GLOBAL q Page 11 Networks Centre, a BICSI Authorized Design Training Provider (ADTP) in the UK, recently completed the pilot BICSI Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC) course, and participants are now moving forward with sitting for the BICSI DCDC exam. The course and certification have attracted interest and participants from Europe and the Middle East. In addition, Networks Centre is in the process of introducing the BICSI Cabling Installation training program for installers and technicians. Details to come. You can also visit bicsi.org/adtp to find a local ADTP and their BICSI courses near you. q On October 22-25 BICSI Japan welcomed BICSI Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer John D. Clark Jr., CAE, to a tour of the long-standing BICSI District. He participated in numerous meetings with key organizations and sponsors— a total of 16 meetings in four days. John was hosted by BICSI Japan Corporate Members and the BICSI Japan District Chair Katsuji Furuichi. The fruitful meetings included visiting the BICSI Japan office, attending a local event and tours of local technology sites. On October 23 John met with representatives from the AT TOKYO corporation in Japan, including Akira Nakamura, CEO of AT TOKYO. In these discussions, BICSI and AT TOKYO agreed to work together to translate BICSI standards into Japanese. The first projects slated for translation are the upcoming new edition of the ANSI/BICSI 002, Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices standard and the upcoming ANSI/BICSI 009, Data Center Operations standard. Data Center Bootcamp Held in Tokyo BICSI Japan held a one-day Data Center Bootcamp in Shinagawa, Tokyo on October 24. The event hosted 60 delegates and six technical presentations on data center design. Jonathan Jew of J&M Consultants, the current BICSI Standards Data Center Design Subcommittee Chair, was a guest speaker. The day concluded with a reception, allowing plenty of networking and friendly exchange among participants.
