RETAILOBSERVER.COM JANUARY 2019 62 T he 2019 Appliance Service Training Institute (ASTI) will be upon us before we know it, on March 3-7, 2019 at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN. ASTI offers Independent Service Companies opportunities to learn up-to-date techniques for repairing ever-evolving high-tech appliances, and also attend business classes to help them grow their businesses and become more profitable. Attending ASTI gives attendees a chance to connect with industry peers, manufacturers and suppliers. The attendees leave the convention feeling inspired and armed with the know-how to run more efficient, successful businesses. Trade associations such as United Servicers Association help fill an ever-present need for better training. As manufacturers trim their budgets, opportunities for direct OEM factory training are cut as well. ASTI is our industry's leading business and technical training event in North America, with over 650 attendees. It offers training by leading manufacturers including Whirlpool, Sub-Zero, Electrolux, Dacor, Bosch, Samsung, LG, GE, Fisher & Paykel, Liebherr and Wolf, to name a few. This year, ASTI will welcome new vendors including Beko USA and Vulkan Lokring. An impressive schedule will offer attendees five full days of intense training from manufacturers who'll conduct hands-on factory training on current and new models in a single location. In addition to technical training, many new, exciting business management classes will be offered starting Sunday, March 3rd. Some examples: How To Wow Your Customers, How To Grow Your Web Presence, How To Hire The Right People, How To Deal With Unhappy Customers, and How To Plan For Disaster. In addition to classes on growing your business, we'll feature a specialized track for one- and two-man shops. We'll also offer user meetings and classes on various software applications. Attending these ASTI classes can save you hundreds or thousands, of dollars if you were to sign up for separate classes elsewhere. And speaking of savings, our highly motivating new business classes include: Search Engine Optimization, Pre- employment Testing, Video Marketing, CSR Training, How to Protect Your Business, and Using Technology to Run Your Business–to name a few. We'll also feature these innovative classes: The Profit Principles– Know Your Numbers, Reviews, Identifying the "Real Value" Offered by Independent Service Organizations, Professional Appliance Service Pricing, Pay-Per-Click–How Not to Waste Money, The Basics of Cloud and Remote Systems, Cyber Protection and Ransomware, and many, many other stimulating classes. All of these classes create a valuable training curriculum that's geared toward owners, service managers, customer service representatives and technicians alike. In addition to technical, business and software classes, there will be a large Trade Show (March 5th and 6th) with move than 50 vendors that servicers do business with every day. You'll have opportunities to meet with manufacturer representatives and watch demonstrations on the latest software systems to help you run your business more proficiently. You'll be able to network with like- minded, successful servicers from all over the country who share your goals and operate businesses like yours. Each year people tell how much they love attending ASTI and how much they appreciated the classes and training–but most of all, they see the value of networking and reuniting with the friends they've made over the years. Many servicers have formed peer groups from these relationships to help each other thrive and grow. ASTI provides a strong, compact lineup of training at a very reasonable price of $749 for United Servicers Association Members, which includes breakfast, lunch, and a dinner banquet on Wednesday evening. Many attendees bring their families and extend their ASTI experience into a vacation, as there are plenty of fun, unique things to do in Nashville. This unrivalled event is highly anticipated and is a great opportunity to improve not only every aspect of your business, but your professional self.
