is decision prompted the Carrolls
to entertain the idea of building a home.
"Originally, we thought we would do
what everyone does -kind of a timber
Montana house. But then we started
thinking about it and looking at different
types of houses and what was being done
at ski resorts," says Sisi Carroll, "We
were really drawn to this sort of modern,
minimalist look that still maintained
some rustic qualities to it."
Aiding this endeavor was Rebekka
Cantrell and Ron Bartsch of Sussex
Construction. e wedded duo lead a
full-design service that consults with
home-owners on everything from
concept design to floorboard finishes.
In cooperation with Sussex
Construction, the husband/wife team
of Bill and Courtney Schuele played an
integral part in the house's evolution.
Courtney Schuele is credited with the
house's bespoke design; Bill Schuele
oversaw the timber components.

Sisi Carroll worked with Western Montana Lighting to get the perfect
fixtures. "We want lighting to be mostly invisible," says Cantrell.
