e department has had twenty fire chiefs with A. J. Trodick serving
17 years from 1916 to 1933. Later his grandson became a fire fighter
casualty when a fire truck accidently rolled over him when he jumped
off the back of the truck, got tangled in hose, and fell beneath the truck.
In 1966 Clifford L. Peterson died at a working fire of a heart aack
while trying to establish a water supply.
In 2017, the fire department had 62 fire fighters, 5 administrators,
and 2 administrative assistants. Every fire fighter is an emergency
medical technician (EMT), and 24 are paramedics.
For both departments, efficiency, training, advanced technology, and
dedicated personnel make these departments ready to serve the people
of Great Falls.

Visit the History Museum exhibit that is
displaying photographs and examples of early-day
equipment of the Great Falls' Police and Fire
Rescue Departments. History Museum hours are
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Tuesday-Friday.
Admission is free.
A life-long interest in communications made
