we took significant time to establish it and
it has been accepted worldwide."
Although it has officially been in oper-
ation fewer than six months, the Club's
investment in Conghua is already seeing
positive results in Hong Kong racing. As
of the end of 2018, 40 winners out of 300
races have been trained in Conghua and
December was the best performing month
by a wide margin to show a positive trend.
These included the John Size-trained
Special Stars in the International Jock-
eys' Championship, as well as the Danny
Shum-trained Regency Legend on the day
of the 2018 Longines Hong Kong Interna-
tional Races.
Shum has been an early adopter of Cong-
hua and has spent considerable time there
himself. Regency Legend arrived at Sha Tin
in November 2017 but remained unraced
for the next year. Shum then sent Regency
Legend up to Conghua for training before
the horse's winning debut on Hong Kong
