A: It's growing each day. Safety is our No. 1
priority. ere is no dirty or oily place that is
safe and free of accidents, so we need to improve
our equipment reliability and working condi-
tions to reduce the number of accidents. Newer
equipment is faster and more precise, but it also
has tighter tolerances for mistakes. erefore, we
must have cleaner fluid and precision lubrication.
Additionally, environmental laws are stricter,
requiring cleaner plants, contingency plans, etc.
Q: What do you see as some of the more
important trends taking place in the lubrication
and oil analysis field?
A:
Online oil analysis monitoring is increasing
just like online vibration analysis.
Q: What has made your company decide to put
more emphasis on machinery lubrication?
A:
Gerdau has placed an emphasis on lubrica-
tion in order to achieve a cleaner and sustainable
environment, a safer place to work, cost reduc-
tions, and equipment availability.
