8 CM 2018 | From the Chair "It has been an honor to serve as Chairman these past years and see how God has blessed the work of Capitol Ministries. We have grown not only into D.C., but internationally, during my tenure. To God be the Glory; great things He has done! I have believed for some time now that Rob Hilarides would be the most qualified board member to take the chair after me — our third chairman as we head into our third decade of ministry. Rob has a great heart for our Lord, a passion for this ministry, and brings with him a humble leadership style, business savvy, and discipline that the ministry will require during these years of anticipated rapid growth. On behalf of all the board members, we thank God that Rob has accepted our call to be the new chairman." Ron Kolar A S I ASSUME THE POSITION OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, CAPITOL MINISTRIES® HAS BEGUN ITS THIRD DECADE OF SERVICE AND I AM THE THIRD PERSON TO BE NAMED TO THIS POST. THIS SPEAKS VERY WELL TO THE STABILITY OF THE MINISTRY THAT DARES TO TAKE THE WORD OF GOD TO THE LEADERS OF NATIONS. e Chairmen who came before me have guided and steered this ministry with wisdom in sound and careful ways. I am humbled to follow Ron's great leadership of the ministry. Ron helped build a strong foundation for Capitol Ministries®, brought financial sta- bility to a growing start-up, and then steered it through its adolescent years. It will be my pleasure to build upon the solid and tena- cious foundation that they have laid. is year we have seen unparalleled in- ternational growth due, in great part, to the successful efforts of the seven Global Directors whom we have placed in strategic places around the globe. eir job is to recruit within their geograph- ic areas Bible teaching evangelists and pair them with Christian lawmakers to create weekly Bible studies to political leaders in- side the capitols of foreign nations. eir efforts have brought about hoped for but largely unanticipated growth and this has resulted in growing pains that are at the same time marvelous and challenging. In response, we have named Perry Gauthier as North America Director for the United States and Canada, and Jon Cassel as Africa Continent Director to oversee work in those areas. Brian Hanson was named Director of Interna- tional Ministries to oversee all global efforts, working closely with Capitol Ministries® President Ralph Drollinger. rough their combined efforts, we will be effective and timely in train- ing international Ministry Leaders on how to build sustainable ministries where government leaders gather weekly to study the Bible, are discipled, and grow in their faith. Oaks in Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, a year's worth of the best of Ralph's Bible studies for Public Servants was published this year. One of the main purposes of this book is to provide curriculum for Bible studies that Capitol Minis- tries® is in the process of establishing to city and county com- missioners, judges, and other appointed and elected officials in local governments. You may read more on pages 30-31. As we move forward into 2019 and beyond, I am honored to have played a role in Capitol Ministries®' achievements in 2018, and I am excited about the future. We will work together as a ministry to build upon accomplish- ments and advance new objectives. We will work diligently to plant ministries in places known for spiritually rocky soil as we continue to fan the fires of growth in places where the vision for Capitol Ministries® is already aflame such as Latin America and former Soviet Bloc na- tions. In these places, and many others across the globe, political leaders are eager and hungry for the Word of God and are seeking – in many nations for the first time – to learn how to govern with righteousness. It is our job to fulfill their yearnings with solid, exegetical Bible teaching. I very much look forward to working with the Board of Di- rectors to help fulfill the 2019 objectives of Ralph, our Presi- dent who is a dynamic leader and visionary who seeks always to direct the ministry following the leadings of God. is coming year will bring about challenges and obstacles of its own and we will meet them as we always have, with prayers for God's guidance, His direction, His will, and for the enabling work of the Holy Spirit that energizes our work and makes it possible. Blessings, Rob Hilarides From the Chair
