FIRST PLACE / BUILDER—REMODELER KITCHEN
Family Function
This client, a local restaurateur, had a
mission: a kitchen for one cook or
four cooks, for entertaining or family
dinners. It also had to emphasize
color, art, and the family's collective
exuberance.
The layout of work, storage, and
equipment areas was a top priority.
Designer Lauren Levant used glossy
linear bronze cabinetry to conceal
the integrated refrigeration system,
balanced with a food pantry of the
same size on the other side. An
appliance garage/charging station
between the two volumes is hidden
behind sliding doors.
A dramatic cooking hearth clad in
engineered stone and glass—the
same material used to cover the
working island—is the focal point. The
space spills out into an open dining
area that overlooks views of the
poolside entry. —K.C.
