Open Air
The intention for this kitchen was to
create a sense of luxury and grand
scale, melding indoor and outdoor
elements while honoring the client's
desire for an inviting space where
friends and family can gather.
On the west wall, designer Philip
Nikolich and co-designer Mark
McClure fashioned something of a
disappearing act with a pocketing
window wall that extends from
countertop to ceiling, enhancing the
indoor-outdoor connection and reveal-
ing the home's expansive view of a
nearby golf course. The linear LED
fixtures hanging over one of two
generous kitchen islands take their
visual cue from the verticality of the
palm trees outside.
The designers selected cabinetry
with a high-gloss lacquer finish and
provided abundant storage, with
organizers, pullouts, and a semi-hidden
back kitchen as well. —Kate Carsella
