DVD: Not bragging or anything, but I would say
that I am. Not a whole lot of jockeys really play
basketball. Kent Desormeaux and Corey Nakatani
are also pretty good. They're natural athletes. We
just played the other day. I was the leading scorer
and we won the game.
DVD: I was very lucky to even get to throw a leg
around him. What a really classy and super talented
horse he was. I wish there were more like him. It
was just so easy to ride him. He was fast, he has
a big stride and a super mind, and his ability is
off the charts. He was a pleasure to be on. I rode
him in his first race and I was working him before
his first race and there was a rare feeling you got
from him. I knew it and so did Bob (Baffert). He
knew what he had. What a great training job he
did winning the Triple Crown in the short amount
of time he had to work with. The whole thing was
unbelievable. I was happy to be a part of it.
TDN: There are a lot of times when jockeys play
together as a team in charity events. Are you the best
player among the Southern California jockeys?
TDN: As everyone knows, you rode Justify when he
broke his maiden. What was that experience like?
