DVD: There are a lot of aspects that go into this.
Americans are just naturally bigger these days.
Back in the day, there were more smaller Americans
than there are now. Also, I think other sports have
taken hold of kids' interests. You've got basketball,
football. If you're not real small, why would you
even try to be a jockey? How would you even get
interested in the sport? You've got to be around
horses and be interested in horses to want to
pursue that profession.
DVD: It's definitely up there. A big meet like that,
it's like Saratoga, and all eyes are on you. That's
definitely up there as far as big achievements go
for me. But winning my first Breeders' Cup this year
with Stormy Liberal in the (GI) Breeders' Cup Turf
Sprint was huge for me. Hopefully, now I can add a
Kentucky Derby to my list.
TDN: You are one of the few young American jockeys that have
found success of late. Why do you think that is, that so few
younger Americans are testing the waters as jockeys?
TDN: You put on a show at the main Del Mar meet,
winning the riding title. Do you consider that your greatest
achievement thus far in your career?
