DVD: Yes, he is a father-type figure and he
considers me as a son, as well. It's really cool
for me to have a Hall of Fame jockey and a Hall
of Fame guy when it comes to his personality
and character in my life. He doesn't exactly fill
the complete void I have missing my dad, but he
definitely really helped me out when I lost my dad.
I was living with him at the time and without him
I would have been a complete mess, more than I
was. I'm very blessed to have him and I love him
like a father and as a best friend.
TDN: You suffered an unspeakable tragedy in 2014 when
your father, Seth, took his own life. You've spoken many
times about how close you are with Mike Smith. How much
did he help you deal with your dad's suicide and in some
respects has he become a father figure to you?
