Twisted-pair (and pin-outs) remains a
communications pathway for many
applications. Review the 2019 BICSI Winter
Conference & Exhibition schedule and you'll
see sessions that covered "Implementing
Digital Building Strategies and Applications
within the Hospitality Space" and "PoE
Lighting: Unleash IoT and Opportunity
in the ICT Industry," among others.
Continuously acquiring knowledge and experience
remains an important component to success. You never know when past
experiences and emerging technology can converge and solidify the ongoing efforts
to effectively support and possibly influence this rapidly expanding industry.
Convergence has been a common theme throughout my journey within the
ICT industry. Those experiences have helped me realize the power of convergence
not only from a professional perspective, but also from a personal development
perspective, including physical health and mental acuity. For me it has been
important to keep an open conduit to education and growth, especially in:
• The evolving convergence of data communications with other new
and expanding technologies.
• Understanding the importance of past experiences, even when they
may not seem relevant.
• Focusing on the power of convergence between personal growth
and professional experiences.
Let me leave you with a quote from Maria Castañón Moats, U.S. Assurance Leader of
PwC: "Cultivate a network of trusted mentors and colleagues. Other people can give
us the best insight into ourselves—and our own limitations. We must have the courage
to ask for help and to request feedback to expand our vision of what's possible."
