I believe combinations of colors, of textures, of dreams of keeping the West alive are what Western art and the C.M. Russell Museum are all about. It's the meeting of like minds and like souls sharing their love for the romance, the hardships, the people and the amazing stories of the West. I hope people enjoy my collection that blends the Old West with the West of today." Laura Ullrich of Copper Moon Bead Artistry is a fifth generation Montanan and brings new and exciting accessory fashions to the show. Her artistic beaded jewelry, belts and handbags are often rooted with Western antique elements. "The art of Charles Russell has always inspired me," said Ullrich. "My studio window looks out toward the bluffs that divide the big Montana sky and winding Powder River. The beautiful changing landscape of my home state are the basis for my creative endeavors." Returning to this year's runway is shop owner Kate Aspen of Cowgirls and Indians Resale in Oregon. She said a highlight will certainly be the other participants and guests that "we get to dress and play with...it's all about feeling good in what you wear." The Russell Runway Show is made possible by a generous group of artists and designers, local modeling talent, and a hair and makeup sponsorship from The Palm Tree Hair and Nail Salon. Proceeds benefit the C.M. Russell Museum's educational programming.
