Classes are offered by exhibiting artists and students from places like Power, Cut Bank, and Lewistown are invited and encouraged to attend. High school art teachers are also supported through this program and have the opportunity to receive supplemental funding for supplies, transportation to art related events, equipment and other related art tools. "We don't fund 100% because we feel kids need to be actively involved in their future. But we help support those efforts," adds Ukrainetz. Now in its second year is the Zach Babat Memorial Scholarship. "Three years ago, Zach Babat, who was an exhibiting artist at the Out West Art Show for a number of years, lost his life in a plane wreck in Alaska. Not long after, his wife, Kerry Pride, approached us with a check from Zach's family, friends, and fellow pilots to start the Zach Babat Memorial Scholarship Fund. A significant portion of Zach's print sales go to this facet of the Young Masters Program and this will be the second year we'll be awarding the Memorial Scholarship. It's a state-wide opportunity," Ukrainetz says. Marty's Quick Draw is a must-see on Friday afternoon. In this fast-paced, skilled painting competition, twelve renowned artists have one hour to turn a blank canvas into a completed painting. As visitors stroll by, this crowd-pleasing event can be both exhilarating and frightening to even the most seasoned artists. Once time is up, the pieces hit the auction floor where the bidding is fast, furious and lots of fun. Things get spicy on Saturday when Supaman takes center stage. Supaman, whose given name is Christian Takes Gun Parrish, is an award-winning rapper/singer and Native American Fancy Dancer from the Apsaalooke Nation. He combines ancient Native sounds with current vocal overlays and technology producing sounds your sure to be humming for weeks to come. Following Supaman is Marty's Quick Finish. Not to be confused with Marty's Quick Draw, this event calls for another twelve exhibiting artists to put the finishing touches on a painting they have already started. These pieces will also be auctioned off immediately following the timed event. Make this show a must-see on the priority list. From up-and-coming to established artists with huge followings, taking in this show is definitely worth your time.
