RETAILOBSERVER.COM APRIL 2019 32 included the vast product displays for LVT products, as well as wonderful innovations in tile and stone products that offer greater flexibility for design and installation. The benefit of attending live markets is to experience products firsthand, and to come face to face with the key people who produce them. TISE 2019's exhibiting brands made sure the industry could experience their products directly via live demonstrations in their exhibit spaces as well as on the Product Demo Stage at The Design + Installation Showcase Hub (The DISH), right on the show floor. MAPEI Corporation and USG offered hourly demonstrations covering topics from shower and floor prep to installing floors in a flash. Many industry veterans come to TISE knowing exactly what they are searching for. Others attend for the first time, desiring to see everything the industry has to offer. Both groups leave TISE having learned or seen something new and unexpected – because the TISE market is a vast place of discovery and inspiration. Iconic brands launch new product lines, while new companies enter the marketplace with exciting innovations for the industry. A fresh trend discovered at TISE 2019 was related to innovations in the ease of installation for floors, walls and backsplashes. Cal-Flor Accessory Systems, a new exhibitor, featured their OMUR On the Wall, a unique, innovative wall-mount system that allows mounting click floors on the wall. Emerging for the second year was an expansion in magnetic installation products, as seen by Intelli-Force's Magnetix and Magnetic Building Solutions, a magnetic backing and base underlayment that can adhere wood, stone and tile to nearly any commercial or residential surface. This year, TISE launched a brand-new education program called CONVERGE. Industry leaders covered hard-hitting, on-point topics such as "The 411 on 4:20: Medical Marijuana and the Work Place" and "What to Expect in Washington DC After the 2018 Elections." Technically crucial topics included "Moisture Mitigation Roundtable" and "The Ways of Water: Critical Considerations for Shower Construction." Design- centric forecasting sessions had intriguing titles such as "Color Vibes: A Journey Through Color and Trends" and "The Power of 5: The 5 Hottest Trends in Flooring & The 5 Types of People Buying Them." The CONVERGE education program was led by industry experts with conversations by veterans Jon Namba, Lisbeth Calandrino, and Katie Ford, to name a few, as well as experts from outside the industry such as attorney Jeff King and social media specialist Shannon Vogel. Each influencer brought unique perspectives, and a vault of information to offer value to each CONVERGE attendee. Though in its first year, TISE already has plans to grow, adjust, and improve its program continuously, to ensure that it will meet the education needs of the industry. Save the Date: #TISE2020 EXHIBITS, January 28-30, 2020, Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas. Visit www.intlsurfaceevent.com/en/home for more information. TISE 2019 RO
