"Then as well as painters, I look to sculp- tors. Mark Coreth is a fantastic wildlife sculptor, very expressive, and that has been an influence. But also, I want the image of the horse or the racing scene to work as a painting, harmonizing the colors and captur- ing the movement, then having it come to- gether as something exciting." Helping him in his quest to become estab- lished, Paske became the artist in residence for the Household Cavalry, Tattersalls Auc- tioneers, and The Jockey Club, and is now represented by the Osborne Studio Gallery in central London, which specializes in sport- ing art. This visibility has led to numerous commissions. "That engagement with peo- ple is very important, as it's their love of racehorses you're trying to cater to," he says. "They start to understand where you're com- ing from and what you're capturing. As an artist, you're very much a part of the same brand as your art." The year ahead may even yield a few sur- prises for the artist as he experiments with his style and subject matter. "Later this year, I have another solo show coming up in Lon- don at the Osborne Studio Gallery in Decem- ber, so I'll produce some work for that," he says, "and that means going to St. Moritz in Switzerland for White Turf, to see the racing on the snow, and Sanlúcar in Spain for the sand racing, just to be influenced by those. "But I'm going to try and develop my own style, which is so important – a lot of art- ists don't vary their style, which is fine, but I really want to evolve in terms of how I ap- proach certain works.
