By Chris Anderson 92 THE SPA'S PAVILION GRAND HOTEL When in Saratoga, look no farther than the Pavilion Grand for all the comforts of home (and then some). By Brian DiDonato After three years, I write with much sadness that this will be the final edition of the TDN Weekend, at least in this format. When we started the publication in April, 2016, we thought there would be a market for a publi- cation that wrote about all the ancillary things that go along with a passion for racehorses—travel, food, culture, and personalities surrounding the sport. It found an audience, received critical acclaim, and won the 2018 Eclipse Award for best multimedia feature. But despite a few ardent supporters (thank you Keeneland, the 21C, the Adelphi Hotel, Maryland Breeders, and Arqana, in particular), the platform, best suited to desktop in an increasingly mobile world, never really caught on with the kinds of luxury-goods advertisers we'd hoped. Thank you to all the writers, photographers, and videographers who helped to make it an editorial and visual success; to my assistant publisher, Jill Williams; and mostly to Justin Fowler, the creative genius behind the Weekend whose design skills are unparalleled. You created a thing of beauty every month. And to our readers, we hope you enjoy this last edition. A new mobile iteration debuts at the end of April. SUE FINLEY Publisher
