RETAILOBSERVER.COM MAY 2019 32 A S S O C I A T I O N N E W S ASID ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH EMERALD EXPOSITIONS RO T he American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the largest interior design professional organization, has announced a partnership with Emerald Expositions, the largest operators of B2B trade shows in the U.S., with a goal of developing new and engaging content and enhancing participant experience. The partnership will impact the full roster of Emerald Expositions' design-affiliated trade shows and conferences (including GlobalShop, HD Expo, BDNY, ICFF, CEDIA Expo, Healthcare Design Expo & Conference, and Environments for Aging Expo & Conference) by focusing the ASID presence and offering custom programming. "The ASID partnership with Emerald Expositions is a game changer. Emerald is the dedicated leader of business-to-business trade shows and a key resource to the design profession," says ASID CEO Randy Fiser, Hon. FASID. "Emerald's established success in operating and organizing today's premier design conferences will leverage the society's depth and breadth of reach across the entire design community (healthcare, workplace, hospitality, retail and residential) to further our efforts to demonstrate that 'design impacts lives,' a mission that also rings true for the Emerald team. We're thrilled that our partnership will provide attendees the most impactful experience possible." "There is a natural synergy between ASID and our design portfolio," adds Joe Randall, executive vice president of Emerald Expositions. "ASID has always taken a collaborative approach in their mission to educate designers and clients on the power of design. Through our comprehensive network of tradeshows, publications and match events, Emerald serves the full spectrum of built-environment design professionals and technology integrators representing residential and commercial markets. We welcome this expanded partnership with ASID and are proud to provide the platforms where key industry issues like functionality, wellness and sustainability can be actively addressed." Instrumental to the establishment of this partnership was the pre-existing and independently held agreement between ASID and National Kitchen + Bath Association (NKBA) which owns the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), also produced by Emerald Expositions. Along with integrated marketing and outreach efforts, the enhanced relationship between ASID and Emerald affords the ASID community access to exclusive show-related benefits and leading industry publications. ASID and Emerald Expo will launch new roundtable discussions with subject-matter experts and design leaders in each sector that will help shape the future of practice. ASID will also coordinate "Impact of Design" awards at each show, focusing attention on products from exhibitors that contribute to the health and well-being of clients and/or emphasize sustainable design practices. Additionally, at each show, ASID will showcase a space that demonstrates the impact of design – a concept space created to uniquely provide an immersive experience on the power of design. The first such space debut was at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), North America's largest trade show dedicated to all aspects of kitchen and bath design in Las Vegas. Throughout 2019, ASID and Emerald Expo will partner on the follow- ing trade shows with custom concepts aligned to industry focus: • HD Expo — Las Vegas, May 15-17 (trade show and conference for the hospitality design community) • ICFF — New York, May 19-22 (trade show and contemporary furniture fair) • GlobalShop @ RetailX — Chicago, June 25-27 (retail design, planning, and merchandising expo and conference) • CEDIA Expo — Denver, Sept. 10-14 (home technology trade show and conference showcasing smart-home tech and electronics) • Healthcare Design Expo & Conference — New Orleans, Nov. 2-5 (trade show dedicated to healthcare solutions and spaces) • BDNY — NYC, Nov. 10-11 (boutique design trade fair focused on the hospitality industry)
