Dark Magic
Designer Janik Lemery set out to
create a powder room that was
dark and impactful. With light
streaming in from a large, loft-
inspired window, she cloaked
the room almost completely in
black, with matte black painted
shiplap on the walls that extends
to the ceiling. The white oak
flooring, continued from the
hallway, offers a reprieve from
the dark, dramatic hue.
Forgoing a traditional vanity in
favor of a more creative custom
solution, the designer specified
a suspended counter made from
horizontally veined marble to sit
below the window. The semi-
recessed sink bowl is made from
thin, powder-coated steel that
matches the black of the
surrounding walls. A uniquely
placed industrial-look faucet
rotates from its anchor point
inside the right edge of the sink.
