tation as a result of a 1968 marijuana possession convic- tion. At the eleventh hour, Lennon's attorney contacted Trust, who immediately flew to New York and convinced the judge that depor ting the former Beatle would cost the city of New York a large amount of music-licensing rev- enue. The judge relented, and a grateful Lennon offered Trust anything he wanted in repayment. Trust just asked for a couple of autographed albums for his kids. During his career, Trust struck out on his own a number of times, first with Trust Music Management and later with Killer Tracks, a company that produces and licenses music for films and television use. Though he's mostly out of the day-to-day business, he keeps his hand in, most notably helping his friend Doris Day by managing her catalog. His book outlines his experiences with these and other businesses and is a delight- ful read for anyone interested in the behind-the-scenes machinations of the music industry.
