CREDENTIALING Page 23 Volunteer Acknowledgement & Installation JTA Those who can, do. And those who can do more, volunteer! BICSI's credentialing program could not be successful without an enormous network of committed, talented and engaged volunteers who give their time, resources and knowledge to help create programs that are relevant and meet the highest industry standards. In February 2019, the Registration & Credentials Supervision Committee (RCSC) held a Job Task Analysis (JTA) for the Installation Program. The JTA is a very important credentialing industry best practice activity that yields value to the certification and to the individuals who earn them. Performing these studies on the credentialing programs ensures that BICSI stays at the forefront of the industry and that our members, credential holders and other ICT professionals remain relevant and at the top of their respective fields. A JTA is conducted every three to five years with subject matter expert (SME) volunteers in the ICT industry. Professionals who hold the given credential participate in the study and provide industry expertise on the work that, in this case, a BICSI Installer or Technician ® conducts. The study is facilitated by third-party expert test and certification development professionals who guide the SMEs through a two-day meeting to determine the activities and attributes involved in installation jobs. This process involves input from the SMEs on job duties, job tasks and steps, knowledge, skills and abilities, and the competencies needed to be successful as an Installer 1 ® ; Installer 2, Copper ® ; Installer 2, Optical Fiber ® ; and Technician ® . We would like to personally thank our volunteer leadership and every person involved in the Installation JTA in February. We appreciate their time away from their families, jobs and daily lives to give back to the ICT profession. • George Thorning, RCDD RCS Committee Chair • Brian Ensign, RCDD, NTS, OSP, RTPM, CSI Installation Subcommittee Member • Michael Collins, RCDD, RTPM, CCDA, NCE Technical Information & Methods Chair and Program Coordination Subcommittee Chair • Richard Abeyta, RCDD, TECH • Sean Doucette, INSTF, TECH • Trevor Goldsmith, RCDD, TECH • Lynette Hall, TECH • David Houtz, RCDD, OSP, TECH • Francis Krosendijk, INSTC, INSTF, TECH • David Mayhew, RTPM, INSTF, TECH • Teclo Munoz, RCDD, TECH • Nicholas Plueger, INSTC • Brian Posivak, INSTC, INSTF, TECH BICSI is continuously seeking volunteers to help advance our association, as well as the ICT profession as a whole.
