he steeple bell echos across the valley to signal an upcoming worship service on a clear
summer evening as it had 120 years ago. e spirit of the children, priests, and nuns scurrying
across the field to aend Mass in the log church persists aer all these years. e church at
Saint Peter's Mission was established as a school for native and selers' children by the Jesuits
as the first long-term mission among the Blackfeet. e church remains today as a lone sentinel
in the beautiful Mission Valley 15 miles northwest of Cascade, Montana.
