28 I ICT TODAY COMMISSIONING ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS IN 7 PHASES "For the last couple of years, access control has achieved a higher rate of growth than either video surveillance or intruder alarms," according to a report by Memoori. 1 A study by Market Research Future indicates that the enterprise access control market (i.e., airports, corporate buildings, small businesses, hospitals and other facilities spanning virtually every vertical industry) is growing rapidly at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 10.8 percent and is expected to reach $1.03 billion by 2023. North America is leading this growth. 2 These impressive figures indicate rising security concerns among enterprise owners who are increasingly upgrading legacy systems and installing more sophisticated and advanced access control systems (ACS). These systems need commissioning—the process of verifying that a project's electronic ACS are installed and adjusted to perform as anticipated by the owner—or they will likely fail. By F.
