Park District Board Meeting Third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm This schedule is subject to change. For more information, call (847) 965-1200 or visit mortongroveparks.com About Greetings everyone, If you thought you had a wonderful summer with us, wait until you see what we plan for the fall. New programs, returning favorites, and special events to bring families, neighbors and residents from across the Village coming together to celebrate. Page after page of this brochure is fi lled with opportunities for you and your family. I have had conversations with many concerned residents about Harrer Pool and its future. Back in the spring, staff and the Board of Park Commissioners decided to open Harrer Pool, it was with the understanding this year would be the last year it would be open in its current condition. The park district was very fortunate the pool lasted this long. Most of us have strong, powerful memories of Harrer. We grew up in this pool, we made friends that remain friends to this day, we played in the water with those friends and family who no longer live here. These memories are hard to let go and can never be replaced. It would be great if we could continue to operate Harrer, but its condition just won't allow it. The park district plans to replace the pool with a project determined from input from the community. We will be conducting town hall meetings beginning in August to explain the various options and how the district is working toward determining a replacement. Visit our webpage to learn more about the projects and town hall meetings. On August 10 we will be rededicating the playground at Mansfi eld Park beginning at 10am. Come out for refreshments, games and activities, and a free give-a- way. Our Halloween Family Fest has moved to Friday! Over the last several years, the event has been attended by hundreds of people and it has become too much of a stress on the participants, staff and the community center. We expect mostly Morton Grove residents if we move it to a Friday rather than keeping it on a Saturday. Join us on Friday, October 18 from 5 to 8 pm for a community favorite. To cap off a wonderful year, celebrate the holidays with us at Holly Days Festival on Saturday, December 7 at the Village of Morton Grove's Civic Center. See page 14 for all the activities and start times. Have a wonderful fall season.
