"Readiness, lethality and modernization are the requirements driving these priorities." ough there are many ways for sailors to earn distinction in their command, community and career, Buck is most proud of receiving her aviator wings. "It's a very small community and you have to be the best of the best," Buck said. "As a female, you are held to a higher standard." Serving in the Navy is a continuing tradition of military service for Buck, who has military ties with family members who have previously served. Buck is honored to carry on the family tradition. "My father was an Air Force fighter pilot and my brothers are in the military too," Buck said. As a member of one of the U.S. Navy's most relied-upon assets, Buck and other sailors know they are part of a legacy that will last beyond their lifetimes providing the Navy the nation needs.
