VICTORY
THE
LAP
The center snaps the ball and Joe Gaziano breaks from his four-point stance, the first man off the
line of scrimmage. With a full head of steam, he barrels straight into Michigan State senior
tackle Miguel Machado; the two collide and interlock for no more than a second. In the blink of
an eye, Joe has bullied his way to Machado's right side, then he darts past him. The big offensive
lineman has two inches and about 50 pounds on him, but Joe is too quick. His legs don't stop
churning until he hits quarterback Brian Lewerke, wraps him up, and drives him into the turf just
inside Michigan State's end zone.
