IV Catheters and Plugs (continued) UniverSet T-Connectors Supplied by: Covetrus T-ports are a type of extension set that is attached to the catheter/winged infusion set, and connected to the terminal end of the IV line. T-ports are shorter because they are usually taped to the patient. T-ports can also serve a safety function by having a 2"-3" loop taped to the patient; if the line is pulled strongly (or caught on something), the safety loop can become untaped, rather than pulling the catheter out of the patient. T-ports are available with both conventional fittings as well as needle-free MicroClaves ® . The advantage of the MicroClave is that no injection plug is needed to close the catheter. T-ports are also available in macrobore (also called standard bore) or minibore (also called small bore).
