Protecting the quality and integrity of BICSI's certification policy. Click here to read the complete Recertification Audit Policy. NEW RECERTIFICATION AUDIT POLICY • Assessing the utility • Assessing the physical security • Assessing the operational performance • Assessing the data center's suitability against a client's IT requirements • Assessing the operations documentation • Assessing the safety procedures • Developing an assessment report While Security has been present in prior iterations, in 2019 it was moved out of the Ancillary area of expertise, given its own section and expanded. Now comprising 12 percent of the DCDC exam, those required job tasks include: • Managing the threat assessment • Coordinating a security audit • Verifying against objectives • Identifying countermeasures • Coordinating the cost benefit/ feasibility/present value in studies • Translating the disaster recovery plan requirements into recovery design recommendations Click here to read about the differences between the 002 and 003 DCDC exams. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS As what a DCDC may be asked to perform evolves, so do the qualifications. Prior to this iteration, a DCDC exam can- didate was required to have two years of verifiable, full-time equivalent work experience in data center design, con- struction and/or operations. Given the extent to which a DCDC's knowledge has had to expand, and that existing DCDCs possess such diverse experiences, the DCDC qualifications were revised. To qualify, a candidate now has options and needs to meet just one of the following: 1. Hold a current RCDD ® certification. 2. Have two years of verifiable, full-time equivalent work experience in data center design, construction and/or operations and hold either: A) A current BICSI Technician ® , RTPM ™ or OSP ™ credential, OR B) A degree in architecture, engineering or construction management. 3. Have three years of verifiable, full-time equivalent work experience in data center design, construction and/or operations within the past seven years. ALWAYS EVOLVING As the ICT industry continues to evolve, so will BICSI. Our processes and proce- dures require that BICSI perform JTAs for our credentialing programs every three to five years. This very important creden- tialing industry best practice yields value to the certification and to the individuals who earn them. Performing these studies on our credentialing programs ensures that BICSI stays at the forefront of the industry and that our members, credential holders and other ICT professionals remain relevant and at the top of their respective fields. Submit your CECs Today Recertification is critical and shows your continued commitment to education and advancing your knowledge of ever-chang- ing technologies, regulations, standards, codes and best practices within the ICT profession. You don't have to wait until it's time for you to recertify to submit your con- tinuing education credits. We encourage you to submit them as you earn them. You can log in to your BICSI profile anytime at bicsi.org/login to submit your CECs. Re- member to submit proof of attendance. Sub- missions are processed in the order they are received and can take up to 30 business days. CREDENTIALING Page 19 (continued from page 18)
