I check with local researchers and photographers for whatever info they can give me. It's a balance between time and money to find a satisfactory encounter. "This was at The Pantanal in Brazil. I always give credit to my guides. I take the photos and get famous, but they are the ones that make that possible. This was one of two cubs hunting along a river. There was a cow carcass on the other side of the river and this jaguar smelled the corpse. I was laying in the bottom of a boat, shooting up, giving the photo this dramatic angle." FAT ALBERT "Nile crocs grow to six or seven meters and are considered to be one of the most dangerous animals on the planet. Humans are par t of their food chain. "This was shot in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Crocs are terrestrial and cannot feed underwater. If they open their mouths to bite something, they will drown, so they attack on the surface, not underwater. We can enter the water when they go in, swim with them and photograph them. The key is going at the right time of year. During the winter—July in the southern hemisphere—the animals are lethargic. "I went to Botswana specifically to photograph Fat Alber t. He had been accused of attacking young boys—later found to be untrue—and the people of a village captured the croc and relocated it 100 kilometers away. We went there to tell the true story."
