HUNTER JOHNSON did not play in the 'Cats Saturday romp over Massachusetts and later, when
asked why, Pat Fitzgerald said that he "Was banged up last week. We rested him this week." On
Monday, when asked at his weekly presser if he had an update on the quarterback, Fitzgerald
simply said, "Nope." But on the two-deep for the 'Cats Saturday meeting with Minnesota Aidan Smith
is listed as their starting quarterback, Andrew Marty is listed as the second team quarterback and
Johnson's name is absent.
THE FIRST-YEAR running back Evan Hull carried 24 times for 220 yards and four touchdown against
UMass, and the redshirt freshman running back Drake Anderson was benched in the first quarter
after fumbling on his fifth carry of the day. But on that same depth chart Anderson is listed as the
starter and Hull, as second team.
"We'll see how the week goes," Fitzgerald said about this surprise. "Evan's got one more game to
play, so we'll see how that plays out. (Hull, who has appeared in three games, will retain his redshirt
if he appears in four or less.) We'll make decisions personnel-wise as the week goes on."
JUST A REMINDER about 'Cat depth charts. They are fluid. They are very, very fluid.
