They beat the previ- ous record held by a Franchise Partner in Ashland Kentucky back in 2002 by approximately $3500. • Pick up your copy of the book "A Gift to the Nation" at American Flags and Poles by author Dan Kincaid. This book is dedicated to the people of Washington and Monroe counties who helped with activities, events, publicity, fund raising and other logistics related to cutting the 1987 Capital Christmas Tree from the Wayne National Forest and sending it to the nation's Capital. The book price is $17 plus tax and makes a nice Christmas gift. • A message from the Boy Scouts of America: Scouting in the Marietta area is thriving. Our Scouts and leaders want to thank the community for your support of our recent popcorn sale. Our Scouts are thankful for your help as they are striving to earn their own way to Camp this summer. Scouting units in Marietta are now part of the Muskingum Valley Council and we are excited to part of their growing, dynamic Scouting pro- gram. Community minded always. • Congrats to Kristi Close, Peoples Bank, who will be retiring on December 31st, with 45 years of service. • On Thursday, November 21st, Wolf Creek Contracting celebrated the com- pletion of the District 10, Washington Full Service Maintenance Facility at its ribbon-cutting ceremony, owned and hosted by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The $10 million project involved new construction of salt and cold storage buildings, and a 33,000 square foot truck maintenance garage; and renovation of the district's existing fifty-year-old test laboratory and office headquarters. The project took a year and a half to complete and was a total of 55,750 square feet. This quarter's edition focuses on the holidays in the valley, with a look at "Shopping Small This Season," "Realistic New Year's Resolutions," and why it is important to donate locally, among other topics. • ELPRO Services Inc. is expanding and relocating due to successful business growth over the past few years. The grant was used to by two HEPA vacu- ums and 2 saws with integrated HEPA vacuums to control Silica dust, one of OSHA's hottest topics. They also pur- chased a Hydro Mobile, hydraulic scaf- folding unit. • Wit & Whimzy celebrated 3 years of business in September, and hopes to be a Front Street presence for years to come. They now carry products from over 100 artisans and small businesses, many of which are sole owners working from their home or studio.
