For many, that answer may be no. With 89% of sold home are successfully closed with the assistance of a real estate professional, and the average age of a repeat buyer is 55 years old, you have likely developed a relationship with a Realtor at some point in your life. However, what you may not think about your Realtor is the impact he/she makes in their community. I am not talking about the economic impact of real estate, but the volunteer and financial impact to the communities they work and sell. Many Realtors serve on boards, volunteer their time for local charities or in schools. As members of their professional local association Hilton Head Area REALTORS®, Realtors from various companies from Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and Hardeeville worked together for the good of the community. Here is a glimpse to what they accomplished in 2019. • Donated 47 pieces of new luggage to Family Promise • Held two blood drives on Hilton Head Island & Bluffton with OneBlood - 46 pints of blood donated • Realtor Wide School Supply Drive - supplies distributed to 15 schools in Hilton Head Island, Bluffton & Hardeeville • Annual Spaghetti Dinner raised $4600 benefiting The Children's Center • REALTORS Helping Real People – 30 Realtors and affiliate partners painted the outside of a house for a Bluffton resident in need • Two fundraisers for Habitat for Humanity sponsored by the Young Professional Network and Affordable Housing Committee • Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament sponsored with the Mortgage Lenders Association of Greater Hilton Head raised $36,000 to support 38 charities in Beaufort and Jasper County with 50% of the funds going to housing initiatives Why do we do it you may ask? Realtors sell more than homes; we help build and support the communities where we work in every day. That's who we are! Jean Beck Chief Executive Offi cer
