GLOBAL Page 21 New BICSI ADTP in Korea We are excited to announce a new Authorized Design Training Provider (ADTP) in Korea. An ADTP is a BICSI-approved organization that is licensed to offer BICSI design training. They follow the same curriculum and use the same classroom equipment and materials offered in a BICSI-conducted class. Congratulations to Terapass, located in the Republic of Korea. Certified Instructor, Jeong Keun "Forrest" Yoon, RCDD, DCDC, CT, taught the first ADTP class, DD102: Designing Telecommunications Distribu- tion Systems, last month to approximately 50 students at the Signal Brigade in Camp Humphreys. Located along the western coast of South Korea, Camp Humphreys is home to the Army's most active airfield in the Pacific. Several U.S. Army tactical and direct support units are also located there. BICSI held its annual Tech Day in Korea on 15 November at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul. It was a great occasion for ICT professionals to learn about the latest cabling tech- nologies serving modern smart cities. The event saw 110 attendees including ICT profession- als, delegates from government agencies, U.S. Army communications engineers, U.S. Army tech reviewers, professors, researchers, designers, engineers and contractors. In addition, the event had eight sponsors: CEIK, Corning, Fluke Networks, KWM, Legrand, LS Cables, SAM E&T and SeeEL. Youngsoo Kim, RCDD, PE, BICSI Korea District Chair, officially opened the event, welcoming everyone and providing a BICSI overview. The academic agenda then began with a series of technical seminars centering around "How ICT Infrastructure Technology Serves Future Smart Cities." Throughout the day, attendees were able to interact with exhibitors to learn about their new products and technologies. Delegates also had the opportunity to meet and interact with two special guests: Mack Wallace, Director of Mechanical Engineering at Jacobs, who is also part of the ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Committee; and SK Jang, Professor of ICT at the Polytech Institute of Korea. The day culminated in a lively panel discussion, followed by a closing reception. Attendees and exhibitors alike were thrilled with the event and are looking forward to more events in Korea. Volunteers are already looking at dates for next year's Tech Day. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event a reality! EVENT RECAP BICSI DAY KOREA 2019
